I have listened to one of the best pleas for saving our planet. It comes from Dominican Republic drummer, composer, and educator, Ivanna Cuestra Gonzalez’s debut album, A LETTER TO THE EARTH.
From the onset of its spiraling, corkscrew self, A Letter to the Earth finds two ever-emerging forces—pianist Kris Davis and drummer Ivanna Cuesta Gonzalez—locked into the mindset that home base (Earth) is screwed-up and (we) had better do something about it!

The results came in when seven musicians were selected for the 2022 class: Anastassiya Petrova (piano/organ), Ivanna Cuesta (drums), Lexi Hamner (voice/trombone), Keyanna Hutchinson (guitar), Alexis Lombre (piano), Loke Risberg (guitar) and Kalia Vandever (trombone).
Thirty-year-old Ivanna Cuesta Gonzalez grew up listening to music with her father in the Dominican Republic, then one day came across a drum set in church.
